SAMSUNG is preparing to launch a new smartphone next month, and now the first photographs of the upcoming handset have purportedly leaked online.

Samsung is days after from the launch – or rather, the relaunch – of its next smartphone.

The South Korean technology company is bringing back the infamous Galaxy Note 7 next month.

The notorious phablet was subject to a worldwide product recall last year after a number of handsets spontaneously caught fire.

Samsung permanently scrapped the handset in October after the replacement units that were issued following the first recall started to self-combust as well.

A subsequent probe found manufacturing problems in batteries supplied by two different companies – Samsung SDI Co Ltd and Amperex Technology.

Analysis from Samsung and independent researchers found no other problems in the Note 7 devices except the batteries.

As a result, Samsung is set to sell refurbished versions of its its ill-fated Galaxy Note 7 in South Korea next month.

The latest images from Droidholic reveal that the new Galaxy Note 7 handsets will have a large R printed on the back to denote that it is a safe-to-use refurbished unit.

These refurbished Note 7 phones are expected to ship with a smaller 3,200 mAh battery – a step-down from the 3500 mAh call packed into the original phones.

It is also speculated to cost 30 per cent less than the Galaxy Note 7.

Samsung has confirmed the refurbished Galaxy Note 7 will launch before the Galaxy Note 8 hits stores this summer.

However, the technology company has remained tight-lipped about exactly what markets will get the new smartphone.
